Wildfire Defense Grant For $224,717.00

USDA grant announcement: 100 wildfire defense projects on 7 tribal lands and 22 states, featuring people working in a forest.

Very exciting news for fire defense in the Rocky Point Area

Today, at about 2:30pm ET,  Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will announce that the U.S. Department  of Agriculture’s Forest Service is investing $197 million in 100  project proposals benefiting  communities in 22 different states and seven tribes, as part of the  Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) program.  Funded by the  Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), the CWDG program is designed to  assist communities, including tribal communities, non-profit  organizations, state forestry agencies and Alaska Native corporations  with planning for and mitigating wildfire risks to communities and  critical infrastructure as the nation faces an ongoing wildfire crisis.   After the announcement, a full list of funded  project proposals will be posted to the CWDG website: Community Wildfire Defense Grant | US Forest Service (usda.gov) 

 Rocky Point Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Rocky Point Urban  Interface Community Wildfire Protection Plan $224,717 to update and  implement the Community Wildfire Protection Plan, reduce the risk of  Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), and to reduce fuels where homes and  resorts are currently located.
