The Evacuation Resource Information Gathering Work Group Needs Your Help

The Evacuation Resource Information Gathering Work Group is a group of Rocky Point community members who accepted an invitation to assist the Fire Chief and Klamath County Emergency Services in compiling a resource guide for use in the event of a local disaster. A disaster could be a wildfire, severe winter weather, flooding, extended power outages, windstorms, traffic accidents/hazmat, volcanoes, earthquakes, etc.

The Evacuation Resource Information Gathering Work Group met Monday evening, September 20, to identify areas of information needed and assign members of the group to each of the areas identified.

It was determined one of the most efficient ways to obtain certain information is via email communication. We need your help and request you respond to the individuals listed below.

If you are on oxygen or other life support equipment and would need assistance in case of a disaster, we need to know now, so we can be there when you need us. If you need help evacuating in a disaster for any reason, we need to know now, so we can have help there for you when you need it. Please don’t depend solely on the assistance of a neighbor who has committed to help you, because that neighbor may not be home when disaster strikes and you need help.

If you have a neighbor who you know would require assistance in the event of a disaster, please make sure that neighbor contacts one of the above mentioned ladies or provide information to one of these ladies yourself so they can follow up on your tip.

We understand there are some residents in Rocky Point who live completely off the grid including no cell phones. They wouldn’t know if they were in danger before it was too late. We don’t know who they are and wouldn’t know to make an effort to alert them unless you help us identify who they are. Again, please contact one of the above listed persons and provide this information if you know of people that fit this description.
